A recipient of the British Chevening Award, and the Ryoichi Sasakawa Young Leaders Fellowship, Nesrine Halima holds undergraduate degrees in Political Science (Public International Law), Economics, and Development from the American University in Cairo, and an M.Sc. in Development Planning from the University of London. Her thesis examined the sociopolitical potential and implications of the Muslim Brotherhood and its Wasat movement on Egypt.

Ms. Halima has worked as a consultant with Environmental Quality International (EQI), one of the leading development consultancy firms in the Middle East. As Acting Director for Research, and Manager for Governance and Socioeconomic Development, she managed major research projects for donors and public sector clients on a wide variety of subjects including public sector reform, socioeconomic development, and private sector development, as well as participatory planning and governance. Prior to joining EQI, Ms. Halima coordinated programs, research, and communications for Egypt’s International Economic Forum, a non-governmental organization representing the interests of Egypt’s private sector and civil society to governments and international organizations in Egypt and abroad.
