Huda Sajwani is a UAE national who joined the Dubai School of Government in May 2007. Her area of research focuses on gender and development in the Arab world, with a concentration on the GCC states. Ms. Sajwani earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a double minor in international Relations and the Behavioral Sciences from McGill University, Montreal, Canada. During her time at McGill, she worked as a research assistant at the language development center, in addition to interning at the Emirates Airlines group psychology department with a strong focus on research in both roles.
She obtained her master’s degree in Middle East Studies from the School of Oriental and African Studies at the University of London, with a focus on politics of the Middle East. She conducted her thesis on Iranian women entitled "Towards an Alternative Global Feminism: The Politics of Identity in Iranian Feminism." In addition to completing her degree, during her time in the UK she completed an internship at The Council for Advancement of Arab-British Understanding (CAABU), where she conducted research on British media sentiments towards the Arab world. In addition, Ms. Sajwani worked as a part-time media analyst for a security intelligence firm in the UK, mainly assessing the media on security- and risk-related news from the Middle East and North Africa.
