Heba Shaaban has a B.A. in Political Science from the American University in Cairo, with a specialization in International Relations and a minor in Journalism. Ms. Shaaban also has an M.A. in Political Science, with a thesis on Public-Private Partnerships and a case study on the city of Alexandria. She has two proficiency certificates in written and simultaneous translation, and 15 years of experience in English-Arabic and Arabic-English translation. Her translated works include books, research papers and national reports.

Prior to joining DSG in April 2008, Ms. Shaaban worked with the American University in Cairo, the Center for Environment and Development in the Arab Region and Europe (CEDARE), as well as translation firms in Cairo, Alexandria, Abu Dhabi and Dubai. She has been a certified freelance Arabic translator with the UN FAO headquarters in Rome since 2001.
